The Transition Process

Here at Ysgol Dewi Sant, we appreciate the importance of an effective transition from one period in your child's educational journey to the next. This leaflet offers information on what to expect as transition steps during your child's journey here at Ysgol Dewi Sant.

Before Nursery

Considering Ysgol Dewi Sant as a school for your child? Please arrange a visit, we are happy to show you around the school so you can get to know us.

Open Evening

You will be invited in the Summer term before your child is due to start Nursery to an Open Evening. This will be an opportunity for you to see the class and come and hear what the daily routine of the class is.

September Open Evening

You will receive an invitation to attend an informal Open Evening to see your child's teacher in September. This will be an opportunity to discuss how your child has settled in the new class.

Transition period

At the end of an academic year, your child will receive a period in their new class. This is an exciting time and makes the children look forward to September.

Transition booklet

Some children are anxious about change. For these children we prepare a transition booklet full of pictures and information about their class and new teacher. A copy of the booklet will go home with the child for the Summer holidays.

Secondary

There will be several opportunities for your child to visit the Secondary school before starting there. This includes Open Evenings, sporting events and transfer days.
