The Welsh Council
The role of the Cyngor Cymraeg (Welsh Council) is important in promoting the Welsh language and culture among pupils in our school. The Cyngor Cymraeg is a group of pupils who act as language ambassadors within the school. Their role includes the following:
1. Promoting Welsh
- Encouraging their peers to speak Welsh in school and in their everyday lives.
- Creating a positive atmosphere towards using the language.
2. Leading Language Activities
- Organising and hosting activities in Welsh, such as competitions, workshops, or music and sports sessions.
- Taking part in celebrations like St David’s Day or Welsh Language Week.
3. Being Role Models
- Setting a positive example by using Welsh confidently and naturally.
- Inspiring others to appreciate and use of the language.
4. Supporting Learners
- Helping other children who may be learning Welsh or are unsure about using it.
5. Working with the Community
- Collaborating with school staff, parents, and local communities to support the use of Welsh beyond the classroom.
